Coghlan And Webb Released By Fish

The Miami Marlins announced via a press release that they will not tender a contract for the 2014 season to outfielder Chris Coghlan and pitcher Ryan Webb. Both players now become free agents and can sign with any other major league team.
Coghlan was the National League Rookie of the Year during the 2009 season. He batted .319 with nine home runs, 47 RBI and an .850 OPS that year. He played five seasons for the club and was never able to stay as a starting outfielder after 2010. He would never appear in more than 93 games in any season following his rookie campaign.
Webb was known as a middle reliever during his tenure with the Marlins. They acquired him along with Edward Mujica from the San Diego Padres for Cameron Maybin in December 2010. He increased every year with innings pitched and strikeouts in his three seasons with the Fish.
