Blanche Ely Tops Dillard In Overtime At Soul Bowl

The Blanche Ely Tigers continued their reign between local rivals as they won the 53rd annual Soul Bowl 13-7 in overtime over the Dillard Panthers on Saturday night at Lockhart Stadium. The Tigers have won seven of the last eight Soul Bowls between both schools. The last time the Panthers were victorious in the Soul Bowl was in 2012.
Both teams would score a touchdown in the second quarter. Dillard(6-3) running back George Golden sprinted up the middle and scored on a 40-yard run. Blanche Ely(3-6) answered back as wide receiver Stanley Bolden caught a 70-yard pass from quarterback James Wallace on a crossing pattern route to tie it 7-7.
The Tigers got the victory as they scored in overtime when Wallace connected with Bolden on a 25-yard touchdown reception toward the right sideline.
