The Florida Panthers went to Toronto for the second time this season and were defeated by the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-1 on Thursday night at Air Canada Centre. It was the second game of a four-game road swing for the club.
Toronto(8-6-3) got on the scoreboard as Connor Brown scored at 5:55 of the first period. Florida(8-8-1) tied the contest 1-1 at 10:21. Jared McCann took a shot from the left circle which was saved by Frederik Andersen. Aaron Ekblad followed up the rebound with a one-time slapshot from the low right circle.
The Maple Leafs responded with five unanswered goals to put the game away. Brown and Mitchell Marner added tallies in the last six minutes of the frame. Leo Komarov and James van Riemsdyk scored during the second period while Jake Gardiner made it 6-1 in the third.
