Marlin Briscoe Passes Away

Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Marlin Briscoe passed away on Monday at the age of 76. Briscoe was part of the only two Miami Dolphins teams to win the Super Bowl.
Briscoe played mainly as a wide receiver in his three seasons with the Dolphins from 1972 to 1974. He was the emergency backup quarterback behind Bob Griese and Earl Morrall when he played for head coach Don Shula. Briscoe had 57 pass receptions for 858 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 28 games with the club.
He was a pioneer in pro football as the first black starting quarterback in the Super Bowl era. Briscoe, known as The Magician, was at that position for two games with the Denver Broncos of the American Football League back in 1968.
