Sandy Alcantara And Marlins Overcome Cardinals

Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara finally got a win against his former team as the Miami Marlins came back on the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 at Busch Stadium on Wednesday night. The Fish entered the contest 1-31 this season when they trailed going into the ninth inning.
The Cardinals have won 10 of the last 12 meetings against the Marlins over the past two seasons. Miami had not been victorious in a game at Busch Stadium since June 2019. The Marlins have Thursday off and will begin a four-game wraparound weekend series against the Washington Nationals on Friday.
St, Louis(43-35) broke out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Dylan Carlson hit a sacrifice fly to right field which brought in Edmundo Sosa.
Miami(34-40) answered back quickly in the fourth inning to tie it 1-1. Jesus Aguilar knocked in Garrett Cooper with a single into right field.
The Marlins took their first lead of the contest 2-1 in the top of the fifth. Bryan De La Cruz grounded into a double play and Brian Anderson crossed the plate.
The Cardinals reclaimed the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Brendan Donovan drove in Sosa on a sacrifice fly to left field. Carlson followed with a base hit through the right side for Andrew Knizner to score.
In the ninth inning, Miami moved ahead 4-3 with two outs. Avisail Garcia smashed a two-run homer to center field on the first pitch with Luke Williams aboard. It was the sixth home run of the year for Garcia.
