The American Heritage Stallions host the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs at The Corral in Delray Beach on Friday. It is a Class 3A regional final between both teams with winner taking on Cocoa or Tampa Catholic in the next round. The Chiefs had won the only two meetings between both schools in 2017 and 2019.
Cardinal Gibbons(5-1) are looking for their first state title since 2018. They won their first three games, including an upset road win over St. Thomas Aquinas, before losing their regular season finale to the American Heritage Patriots. The Chiefs handled Clewiston 37-17 and Gulliver Prep 29-7 in the first two rounds of the playoffs. They have outscored their opponents 163-62 this season. Quarterback Mason Polivka will get the starting assignment and lead their offense down the field. Running backs Torrence Miller and Kamari Moulton can carry the ball past the line of scrimmage. Wide receivers Troy Stellato, Bryson Williams, Davon Kiser, Gabriel Morgan and Luke Dean are expected to make pass receptions from Polivka.
American Heritage(4-3) is over the .500 mark for the first time this season. The team had to go through the passing of head coach Brian Sheridan following their first game of the year. The Stallions are currently on a three-game winning streak. They prevailed over Avon Park 42-0 in the regional quarterfinal and Lemon Bay 49-7 in the regional semifinal. American Heritage have outscored their opponents 185-91 this year. Quarterback Dylan Rizk can guide their offense with passes to wide receivers Brandon Schabert, Bradyn Butler, Mathew Hall and Matthew Smiciklas.
