FHSAA South Florida Playoff Results

South Florida high school football teams played in the middle rounds of the 2020 FHSAA Playoffs. A major surprise was that the visiting squad won seven of the eight contests that involved at least one tri-county team. The large schools were in the regional semifinals while the smaller schools competed in the regional finals.
Miami Palmetto travelled to Fort Pierce and barely got by Treasure Coast 22-21 in overtime. The Panthers will next take on Vero Beach on the road in a Class 8A clash.
The reigning Class 7A state champions St. Thomas Aquinas was on the road for the second straight week and pounded Manatee 45-0. The Raiders will be home next week and face Venice for the fifth consecutive year in the postseason. Homestead fell to Venice 50-13 in Miami on the other side of the bracket.
Miami Central, the defending Class 6A state champions, went out west and handled Naples 31-21. The Rockets will leave South Florida again in the next round, return to southwest Florida and face Dunbar.
American Heritage visited Rockledge and got by 26-14 in Class 5A. The Patriots head back up the east coast for their next game at Eau Gallie.
Cardinal Gibbons defeated American Heritage 26-14 in Delray Beach to eliminate the last school from Palm Beach County in the postseason. The Chiefs will play on the road for the third straight week versus Cocoa in Class 4A.
Chaminade-Madonna continued their passage for a fourth consecutive Class 3A state title as they blanked Miami Edison 28-0. The Lions next travel to Tampa and take on Berkeley Prep.
The defending Class 2A state champions Champagnat Catholic destroyed Community School of Naples 67-7. The Lions head up to Central Florida and play Seffner Christian in the next round.
