Miami Northwestern At American Heritage Preview

The Miami Northwestern Bulls clash with the American Heritage Patriots at Heritage Field in Plantation on Friday night in a FHSAA Class 5A regional quarterfinal. It is a playoff rematch from last year where the Bulls edged the Patriots 23-20 in a regional final at the same venue.
Miami Northwestern(3-1) continue to strive for their fourth consecutive state championship and their second straight title in the Class 5A classification. They went down to the Florida Keys and defeated Key West 28-20 in a play-in game last week. The Bulls had wins against Miami Central along with Miami Palmetto and lost to IMG Academy during the regular season. Wide receiver Romello Brinson and tight end Khalil Brantley can get pass receptions from quarterback Taron Dickson. The team can go with running attempts by Zuberi Mobley and Siddiq Jackson.
American Heritage(6-2) pounded Palm Bay 49-0 last week in a play-in game. The Patriots have piled up victories in the regular season over Chaminade-Madonna, Clearwater, Bartram Trail, Venice and Cardinal Gibbons. Their only losses in the campaign were to two strong teams which were Trinity Christian Academy and St. Thomas Aquinas. They have outscored their opponents 202-92 this year. Running backs Mark Fletcher and Jerry Dinkins will get their rushing opportunities from the backfield. Wide receivers Orande Gadsden II, Jacolby Spells and Michael Watkins III look to make catches down the field. The team has gone through several quarterbacks which includes Vinson Davis III and Blake Murphy.
