South Florida High Schools In Next Round

South Florida high school football teams advanced to the next round of the 2020 FHSAA football playoffs. Large schools were involved in play-in games while small schools showed up in play-in games and regional quarterfinal contests in the past two weeks.
25 representatives entered the postseason this year with most of them being private schools. Many public schools opted out from participating in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic that held up preseason training. There were 49 teams that were in the FHSAA playoffs from the tri-county area in 2019.
Palm Beach County went from five schools down to two. American Heritage and St. John Paul II survived while Cardinal Newman, Benjamin and King's Academy fell.
Broward County dropped from seven teams to six. American Heritage, Cardinal Gibbons, St. Thomas Aquinas, Chaminade-Madonna, Calvary Christian Academy and Westminster Academy advanced. Archbishop McCarthy was the only school to lose.
Dade County moved from 13 down to eight representatives. Miami Palmetto, Miami Central, Miami Northwestern, Gulliver Prep, Miami Edison, Champagnat Catholic, Homestead and Doral Academy are still around. Palm Glades Prep, Somerset Academy Silver Palms, Everglades Prep, Westminster Christian and Miami Christian were eliminated.
