There will be less high schools in the postseason this season. There was a cut-off day for teams to opt in to the FHSAA Playoffs back in September. A delay to the start of the 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic prevented South Florida high schools to prepare for the upcoming season.
Almost all of the private high schools in Palm Beach County, Broward County and Dade County did opt in. Most of the public high schools tri-county area choose not to enter and will not participate in the FHSAA postseason.
South Florida high schools did win seven of the eight classifications for FHSAA state championships in 2019. It was the biggest dominance ever by local high schools against the entire state of Florida.
