Cardinal Gibbons Spring Jamboree

The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs hosted a spring high school football jamboree at Dr. Bud Tight Field on Thursday. The Palm Beach Central Broncos and the Spanish River Sharks also participated. The daytime start brought back previous times at The Furnace when the Chiefs held home games at the facility before installing overhead lights.
Cardinal Gibbons played Spanish River in the first two-quarter contest and won 14-6. The Chiefs highlighted the first quarter with a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jayden Torres to wide receiver Brian Williams in the back of the end zone.
In the second quarter, Torres found wide receiver Trent DeBuc in the front of the end zone on a 16-yard touchdown pass. The Sharks closed it to 14-6 when wide receiver Blake Wallace scored on a long touchdown catch after breaking several tackles.
Palm Beach Central faced Spanish River in the second two-quarter game. The Broncos moved ahead 7-0 in the first quarter when quarterback Matis Gordon connected an 11-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Kamare Williams on the right side of the end zone.
The Sharks fumbled and turned the ball over on their next possession. Palm Beach Central scored on the first play of their next drive as running back Ze'quan Wright rushed in on a touchdown run for a 14-0 advantage.
In the second quarter, the Broncos continued the momentum. Wright raced up the middle on a 64-yard touchdown run and the Broncos led 21-0.
Cardinal Gibbons challenged Palm Beach Central in the third two-quarter clash. Torres fired a 75-yard bomb to Williams to give the Chiefs a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Broncos tied it up 7-7 later in the first. Running back Jayden Kiyouk sprinted up the middle from 11 yards away for a score. The Chiefs got a field goal late in the second quarter to go ahead 10-7.

  1. I wonder if St Edward’s in Vero is ever going to complete in this region. Tough to recruit from VBHS which could beat a bat NFL team some years
