Phillies Breeze By Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies pulled away from the Miami Marlins 8-3 on Saturday at loanDepot park. The Marlins have lost seven of their past eight games since they traded Luis Arraez. Both teams have played 1/4 of their regular season schedule so far. The Phillies have outscored the Fish 16-5 in the past two contests.
Miami(10-31) got out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Vidal Brujan cracked his first home run in 2024 to right-center field.
The Phillies responded with four runs in the top of the sixth and led 4-1. J.T. Realmuto knocked in Whit Merrifield with a single into left field. Four batters later, Bryson Stott had a three-run triple to right which scored Realmuto, Alec Bohm and Nick Castellanos.
Philadelphia(28-12) made it 8-1 in the eighth inning. Stott drove in Castellanos on a base hit through the right side. Two batters later, Cristian Pache singled through the left side and Stott scored. Johan Rojas followed with a two-run single into left field for Edmundo Sosa and Pache to reach home.
The Marlins added two runs in the bottom of the ninth, however it was too late. Otto Lopez socked a two-run homer to left-center field with Brujan aboard.
