Marlins Drift By Mets

The New York Mets were blanked by the Miami Marlins 8-0 at loanDepot park on Friday night. The Marlins set a season-high winning streak of three games. All three of the Marlins recent victories were shutouts. The Marlins pitching staff have not allowed a run in the last 28 innings.
Miami(14-32) rushed to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Otto Lopez hit a sacrifice fly to center field which brought in Jesus Sanchez. Two batters later, Nick Fortes smashed a three-run homer to left-center field on a 1-1 pitch with Nick Gordon and Vidal Brujan aboard. It was the second home run of the season for Fortes.
The Marlins added two runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 6-0 gap. New York(20-24) gave up two more runs in the eighth inning and trailed 8-0.
