Rangers Edge Panthers In Game 2

     The New York Rangers got by the Florida Panthers 2-1 in overtime in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The best-of-seven series is now tied at 1-1. Game 3 will be played in Sunrise on Sunday. . 
     New York scored at the 4:12 mark of the first period to make it 1-0. The Cats turned the puck over in their own slot area, Adam Fox pushed a diagonal pass from the inner right circle. Former Panther Vincent Trocheck tapped in a forehand shot from the left of the crease by Sergei Bobrovsky for his seventh playoff goal. Fox compiled his first point in six games. Artemi Panarin was credited with a secondary assist on the play. 
     Florida tied it up 1-1 on the power play with 1:51 left in the first. Anton Lundell passed from the right corner and Sam Bennett sent it from the right wing to the top of the zone. Carter Verhaeghe placed a wrist shot from the high slot past Igor Shesterkin for his eighth goal of the postseason. It was the 23rd career playoff goal by Verhaeghe, which is a Panthers franchise record. 
     After no scoring in the second period and the third period, the contest was decided in overtime. The Rangers picked up the game-winning goal with 5:59 remaining in the extra session. Jacob Trouba cleared the puck out of his own zone. Barclay Goodrow angled a pass at the red line to Trocheck on his right. Trocheck retuned the puck from the right point and Goodrow snapped a shot from the high slot for his fourth goal in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
