Panthers Power By Bruins In Game 3

The Florida Panthers toppled the Boston Bruins 6-2 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at TD Garden on Friday night. The Panthers now lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.
The Panthers scored four power-play goals in a postseason game for the first time in franchise history. The Cats have outscored the Bruins 12-3 in the last two games.
Florida scored first at the 8:04 mark of the opening period. The Bruins turned the puck over in their own zone. Gustav Forsling powered a slap shot from the left point and Evan Rodrigues batted it in past Jeremy Swayman from the left of the crease for his second goal in the playoffs. It was the sixth career postseason goal for Rodrigues. The Bruins had just one shot on goal in the first 13 minutes of play.
In the second period, the Panthers made the most of a double-minor penalty and capitalized with two goals. They scored a power-play goal with 3:46 remaining for a 2-0 advantage. Oliver Ekman-Larsson angled a pass from the top of the zone. Sam Bennett connected a diagonal pass from the top right circle. Vladimir Tarasenko released a wrist shot from the left-circle dot for his second goal of the postseason.
The Cats added another power-play tally with 2:46 to go in the second and had a 3-0 lead. Aleksander Barkov forwarded the puck from above the right circle and Matthew Tkachuk centered it from the right goal line. Carter Verhaeghe tapped it in from the top of the crease for his sixth goal of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
It became 4-0 for Florida with the man advantage at 3:09 in the third period. Barkov passed from the end wall to Tkachuk on the right point. He fed a pass and Brandon Montour collected his third tally of the playoffs on a one-time slap shot from the top of the zone.
Boston broke the shutout at the 5:01 mark of the third on a delayed penalty. John Beecher scooted a pass from the top of the zone and Jake DeBrusk sent the puck to the middle from the left wing. Jakuh Lauko snapped a shot from the inner left circle by Sergei Bobrovsky for his first goal in the series.
The Bruins cut the deficit to 4-2 at 8:31. David Pastrnak pushed a pass ahead from the red line. Mason Lohrei made a square pass from the high slot and DeBrusk released a snap shot from the left circle for his fifth goal of the playoffs.
The B's pulled their goalie for an extra skater with 2:52 left in the final period. It failed when Sam Reinhart ripped a forehand shot from the right wing into an empty net with 1:24 remaining for his fourth playoff goal. Rodrigues added a power-play goal with 50.9 seconds to go on a one-time slap shot from the left circle for a 6-2 lead.
