Marlins Pound Padres

     The Miami Marlins routed the San Diego Padres 9-1 at Petco Park on Wednesday. The Marlins completed a six-game road trip and will return home on Friday and face the World Series Champions the Texas Rangers. The Padres will go on the road and challenge the Kansas City Royals. 

     Miami(20-37) had a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Nick Fortes doubled to deep center field and Nick Gordon scored. Jazz Chisholm Jr. then knocked in Fortes on a base hit through the right side. 

     The Fish made it 3-0 during the top of the third. Otto Lopez reached first on a throwing error for Josh Bell to score. 

     San Diego(30-29) got their only run in the contest during the bottom of the third. Ha-Seong Kim connected with a solo home run to left-center field on a 0-1 pitch for his seventh homer of the campaign. 

     The Fish continued to pile on the runs for the rest of the contest. They picked RBI-singles from Jake Burger, Lopez and Vidal Brujan in the fifth inning. They added one run each in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings.
