It was the first appearance of the Atlanta Braves ever at Marlins Park as they destroyed Miami 11-0 on Tuesday night. Former Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla punished Miami as he fell short of the cycle. Jose Reyes single in the third inning to extend his hit streak to 15 straight games.
In the second inning, Uggla led off with a double to left field. He advanced to third on a ground out to third by Freddie Freeman. Jason Heyward picked up an RBI as he grounded out to shortstop.
Uggla burned his former team with his ninth home run of the season on a 3-2 count to left field in the fourth inning. The Braves added another run in the frame as Andrelton Simmons knocked in Freeman on a single to left field.
Atlanta put up a four-run rally in the seventh inning. After Heyward walked, he scored on a triple by Simmons into center field. Tim Hudson hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Simmons. Later in the inning with two out, Michael Bourn and Martin Prado both got singles. Brian McCann followed with a walk to load the bases. Uggla then drove in Bourn and Prado with a single to left field.
The Braves capped things in the ninth inning as Uggla smashed a solo home run off Chad Gaudin on a 3-2 pitch with two outs for his tenth home run of the season and the 200th homer of his career.. The drive bounced off the sculpture in left center field. Atlanta added three more runs in the inning.
