Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon had his contract extended by the team in a multi-year deal on Wednesday. He has been with the club since spring 2010. The Panthers made their first playoff appearance this past season since 1999-2000. It broke the all-time NHL futility streak of not reaching the postseason in 11 seasons(12 years). The Panthers also won their first division title in franchise history. They lost to the New Jersey Devils in a first round series that went seven games.
Tallon was the general manager of the Chicago Blackhawks and was responsible for drafting many of the players who won the Stanley Cup in 2009-10. He once was a game analyst with Pat Foley on a television and radio simulcast for the Blackhawks. He also played with Chicago for the majority of his NHL career.
