The Florida Panthers announced on Monday that they signed a multi-year agreement to have their new affiliation of the American Hockey League in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Panthers just spent one season in Portland, Maine as their AHL affiliate following a long stint in San Antonio, Texas.
The Arizona Coyotes recently acquired and moved their AHL team from Springfield to near home in Tucson, Arizona. A Springfield group of investors stepped up and bought the Portland AHL club several weeks ago and intended to move it into Central Massachusetts.
