The Fort Lauderdale Strikers climbed out of the standings basement and routed the first-place Carolina Railhawks 3-1 on Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Strikers snapped a four-game winless streak that began the NASL season.
Fort Lauderdale(1-2-2) got all their goals during the first half as they dominated. Macion Santos scored in the seventh minute, Nana Attakora followed in the 23rd minute and Matheus Carvalho capped it in the 38th minute.
Carolina(4-0-2), who are now tied with the New York Cosmos for first place, picked up their lone goal in the second half to cut the deficit. Brian Shriver got their tally for the Railhawks during the 67th minute.
