The Miami Marlins were almost blanked by the Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night. The loss ended the Marlins three-game winning streak.
Philadelphia(23-17) pulled ahead 1-0 in the second inning when Tommy Joseph hit a solo home run off the left-field foul pole against Miami(21-18) starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen. It was his first career homer in the majors.
Peter Bourjos later drove in Freddy Galvis with a base hit into center field during the fifth inning. Joseph extended the Phillies lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth as he singled to center field which scored Cesar Hernandez.
Miami waited until their second-to-last out of the contest to get on the scoreboard and break the shutout. Derek Dietrich hit a sacrifice fly to left-center field for Adeiny Hechavarria to cross the plate.
