The Miami Heat fell short of the NBA playoffs, even though they defeated the Washington Wizards 110-102 on Wednesday night at American Airlines Arena. The Heat finished with the same record as the Chicago Bulls for eighth place in the Eastern Conference, however the Bulls held the tiebreaker for a better record in head-to-head meetings.
Washington started off ahead 27-23 after one quarter. Miami(41-41) bounced back and got up 56-50 by the end of the first half. The Heat extended their margin to 91-77 after three quarters and stayed in front for the rest of the way.
Goran Dragic led the Heat with 28 points while Hassan Whiteside completed a double-double with 24 points and 18 rebounds. Trey Burke had a game-high 27 points for the Wizards.
