Marlins Outlast Padres

     Dan Straily had a career-high 14 strikeouts as the Miami Marlins edged the San Diego Padres 6-3 in 11 innings on Saturday night at Petco Field. He tied Jose Fernandez and A.J. Burnett for the second most strikeouts by a Marlins pitcher in a game.
     Miami broke out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Giancarlo Stanton blasted a solo homer to left field on the first pitch for his sixth home run of the season.
     San Diego came back and got their first lead 2-1 during the bottom of the fourth inning. Austin Hedges lifted a two-run home run to left on a 1-1 count. Yangervis Solarte also scored on the play.
     The Fish tied it in the sixth inning when Martin Prado cracked a solo home run to left field on a 2-1 pitch. There would be no more scoring in the contest until the 11th inning.
     The Marlins took advantage of fielding errors on one play as Justin Boar and Dee Gordon scored. Giancarlo Stanton nailed a two-run homer on 1-0 count to left field to make it 6-2. Christian Yelich was able to score in front of him.
