Ivan Nova pitched a three-hit complete game shutout as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Miami Marlins 4-0 at Marlins Park on Saturday night. Miami(10-12) has lost four consecutive games.
Pittsburgh(11-12) took the lead during the second inning. Jordy Mercer got a base hit into center field to score Gregory Polanco.
The Pirates were able to load the bases in the top of the sixth inning. They scored two runs as Francisco Ceravelli then John Jaso walked. Jaso added a solo home run to right in the ninth inning.
