The American Heritage Stallions head down the Florida Turnpike to challenge the Chaminade-Madonna Lions in a Class 3A regional final at Vince Zappone Field on Friday night. Both schools met in a regional semifinal last year with the Lions winning 38-0.
American Heritage(9-3) is riding a four-game winning streak and edged Benjamin 23-19 last week in Palm Beach Gardens. They have outscored their last four opponents 123-39. The Stallions got a home win over Calvary Christian 42-14 in the first round. They have mainly faced teams outside of Palm Beach County this season and are use to long travel.
The Stallions offense can come out with their rushing game which involves running backs Dallis Small and Steve Barrett. Wide receivers Conner Hindsley, Fredrick Cage, Winston Hill, Deion Small and Jamal Potts intend to receive the ball from quarterback Zachary Bohannon.
Chaminade-Madonna(9-2) are the defending FHSAA Class 3A state champions and have won six straight games. After getting a bye in the first round due to the new playoff format for small schools, they dominated Palmer Trinity 62-0. The Lions compiled five shutouts in 2018 and have outscored opponents 417-116 this season. They have not allowed a point in their last three games.
The one big connection between both schools is Lions wide receiver John Dunmore. He played his first two seasons at Chaminade-Madonna, went to American Heritage for his junior year and returned to the Lions for his senior year. Along with Dunmore, they have wide receivers Jordan Cash and Rony Bourdeau to make pass receptions from quarterback Daelen Menard. Running backs Thaddius Franklin and Willie Davis IV will get their rushing opportunities.
