Nine teams from South Florida advanced to the state semifinals of the FHSAA football playoffs. There were 17 high schools entering the regional finals.
Kings Academy was the only team that moved on from Palm Beach County. Palm Beach Central, Dwyer, Glades Central, American Heritage and Pahokee all lost.
Five Broward County schools advanced to the next round. It included Deerfield Beach, St. Thomas Aquinas, Cardinal Gibbons, University School and Chaminade-Madonna. American Heritage was the only team that was defeated.
Dade County dropped from five squads to three. Miami Northwestern, Columbus and Champagnat Catholic were victorious while Miami Central and South Dade fell.
