The Palm Beach Central Broncos blanked the John I. Leonard Lancers 52-0 on Friday night. Palm Beach Central already clinched the District 9 title in Class 8A last week and will host a regional quarterfinal game next week.
The only points during the first quarter were by the Broncos. Linebacker Tyler Willis intercepted a screen pass, thrown by John I. Leonard(2-8) quarterback Jadiel Cruz, at the Lancers 19-yard line. Tanner Narin kicked a 36-yard field goal at the 7:28 mark.
Palm Beach Central(9-1) made it 10-0 at 8:10 of the second quarter. Quarterback Mike Moreland scrambled through the middle and scored from nine yards away.
The Broncos got great field position on their final two possessions of the first half. Wide receiver De'angelo Pompey caught an 11-yard touchdown pass on the left hash marks from Moreland with 1:58 left.
Palm Beach Central increased their gap to 24 points with 50.6 seconds remaining in the second. Moreland found wide receiver Gen'Taris Oliver on the left sideline of the end zone from six yards out.
