The Carolina Hurricanes beat the Florida Panthers 4-1 at PNC Center on Friday night. Mike Hoffman had his franchise record 17-game point streak snapped. Jordan Martinook scored a hat trick for Canes.
Carolina(11-8-3) got on the scoreboard with 38 seconds remaining in the first period with a Martinook goal by Roberto Luongo.
Martinook added his second goal of the contest at 7:31 of the second period. Teuvo Teravainien scored a power-play goal for the Hurricanes just over one minute later at the 8:32 mark.
Florida(8-9-3) compiled their only goal of the night with 5:56 left in the third period. Mike Matheson sent a pass to Troy Brouwer and he scored his fourth goal of the season on a breakaway. Martinook scored his third goal of the game into an empty net with two minutes to go.
