The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders host the Dwyer Panthers at Brian Piccolo Stadium in a Class 7A regional final on Friday night in Fort Lauderdale. It will be the fourth FHSAA playoff meeting between both schools since 2013.
Dwyer(11-1) is currently on a 10-game winning streak since a Week 2 road loss to Atlantic. The Panthers have outscored their opponents 514-106 this season and their last eight opponents 378-49. They blanked West Broward 43-0 in a regional quarterfinal and topped district rival Palm Beach Lakes 55-27 in a regional semifinal last week.
Panthers quarterback Gio Richardson intends to throw the ball and can run with the ball in situations for short yardage. He has numerous wide receivers to connect passes with which includes Jamari Gaines, Myron Levy, Colby Dempsey, Tanner Franklin and Reggie Gadsen. They have a crew of running backs with James Meeks, Cedric Tucker, Ernest Blackshear, Bobby Armes and Sataria Haliburton in the backfield.

The Raiders have appeared in the regional final every year since 2004, except in 2013 when they lost at Dwyer in a regional semifinal. STA has not lost a home playoff game since 2003. They loaded on South Miami 77-20 in the regional quarterfinal and shut out district rival Fort Lauderdale 51-0 in the regional semifinal last week. They have outscored their opponents 593-92 this year.
The Raiders have Curt Casteel at quarterback to drive the team down the field. He has numerous targets for pass receptions that includes wide receivers Jamal Cooney, Marcus Rosemy, Xavier Restrepo and Jahvante Royal. Their rushing attack will split the carries between running backs Daniel Carter and Nigel White.
