Miami(38-40) had a 31-29 edge after one quarter which was close to their largest lead of the contest. Boston (47-32) was able to pull ahead 53-49 by halftime. The C's had an 83-81 advantage after three quarters and then outscored the Heat 29-21 in the final quarter.
Hassan Whiteside compiled a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds for Miami. Dion Waiters pumped in 21 points while Dwyane Wade scored 17 points. Gordon Hayward had a game-high 25 points along with eight rebounds for the Celtics. Kylie Irving added 23 points and Al Horford drained in 21 points.
