Florida Panthers Hire Joel Quenneville

The Florida Panthers announced on Monday that they have hired Joel Quenneville as the new head coach of the club. He is the 16th head coach in Florida Panthers franchise history. Panthers general manager Dale Tallon named Quenneville the Chicago Blackhawks head coach back in October 2008 when he was the Blackhawks general manager.
Quenneville guided the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup titles in 2010, 2013 and 2015. He is one of only 11 people to coach three Stanley Cup champions. He was let go by that team last season on November 6, 2018. Quenneville is second all-time in NHL history with 890 regular season coaching wins and 1,636 regular season games coached. He previously coached the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche prior to his arrival in Chicago.
He replaces Bob Boughner who was fired by the Panthers on Sunday. Boughner was at the helm for two seasons and had an 80-62-22 record.
