Marlins Lose To Mets

     The Miami Marlins lost to the New York Mets 7-3 on Monday night at Marlins Park. The Marlins played their fifth game of a seven-game home stand.
     Miami(2-3) got in front 2-0 during the bottom of the first. Miguel Rojas led off and got on base after striking out and reaching first base on a passed ball. Three batters later, Starlin Castro lifted a two-run homer to left field on a 2-2 pitch from Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz. It was the first home run of the season for Castro.
     New York(3-1) picked up one run in the second inning and trailed 2-1. Jeff McNeil sliced a double to right field for Michael Conforto to score. The Mets evened it up 2-2 in the fourth inning when Marlins starting pitcher Caleb Smith threw a wild pitch for J.D. Davis to cross the plate.
     The Fish regained the lead in the sixth inning. Castro placed a base hit through the left side and Rosell Herrera scored on the play.
     In the seventh inning, the Mets tied it up again 3-3. Juan Lagares blasted a solo home run to right field on a 2-0 count.
     New York compiled four runs in the top of the ninth. Pete Alonso belted a three-run homer to center field for his first career home run.
