The Florida Panthers fired head coach Bob Boughner on Sunday from his position with the team. The Panthers also relieved assistant coach Paul McFarland of his duties as assistant coach.
Boughner was named the Florida Panthers head coach prior to the 2017-18 season. He had a 80-62-22 record in his two seasons with club and failed to reach the Stanley Cup playoffs.
They finished with 96 points in 2017-18 for fourth in the Atlantic Division and ninth in the Eastern Conference. The Cats slipped down to 86 points this season and ended up fifth in the Atlantic Division and 10th in the conference.
