Many South Florida college football players were picked on the final day of the 2020 NFL Draft on Saturday. It consisted of athletes selected from the fourth round to the seventh round. At the end of the third-day completion of the entire draft, eight former South Florida high school players and seven local college players had their names announced.
Florida Atlantic University tight end Harrison Bryant was chosen by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round with the 115th pick. He was the first player in the 2020 NFL Draft to be taken from a South Florida college.
Florida International University followed later in the round as quarterback James Morgan was selected by the New York Jets at 125th overall. He played just two seasons with the Panthers and was previously with Bowling Green University.
Two players from the University of Miami were selected in the fourth round. Linebacker Shaquille Quarterman went to the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 140th selection while running back DeeJay Dallas headed to the Seattle Seahawks with the 144th pick.
Another player from the Miami Hurricanes was picked in the fifth round. Wide receiver K.J. Osborn moved to the Minnesota Vikings with the 176th selection. He did begin college football with the University of Buffalo.
The next local college football player was announced in the seventh round. Cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver III of FIU was selected by the Carolina Panthers with the 221st pick.
Three local high school football players were chosen in the third day of the NFL Draft. Deerfield Beach and University of North Carolina defensive tackle Jason Strowbridge stayed locally with the Miami Dolphins in the 154th spot.
Flanagan and University of Michigan safety Josh Metellas went 205th overall to the Minnesota Vikings. Metellus won the 2015 FHSAA Class 8A state title with the Flanagan Falcons.
University of Miami defensive end Jonathan Garvin was taken by the Green Bay Packers with the 242nd overall pick. He played high school football with the Lake Worth Trojans.
