The Miami Heat slipped by the New York Knicks 98-96 at American Airlines Arena on Tuesday night. It was the second game of a home-and-home series between both teams.
The Heat finally got their first three-game winning streak this season. Miami Heat radio play-by-play announcer Mike Inglis missed just his third game since 1998 and Jonathan Zaslow filled in. for him.
Miami(10-14) jumped out to an 20-9 lead in the first seven minutes and were up 27-25 at the end of one quarter. New York(11-15) went on a 17-3 spurt to start the second quarter and had a 12=point margin, however the Heat came back and led 57-55 at halftime.
The Knicks controlled the third and led 82-76 at the end of the quarter. It came down to the final stretch of the fourth quarter. Tyler Herro nailed a three-point shot with 1:04 remaining to give the Heat a 97-96 advantage.
Jimmy Butler put together a double-double for Miami with 26 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Kelly Olynyk scored a season-high 20 points while Bam Adebayo drained in 19 points.
Elfrid Payton led New York with 18 points and Julius Randle added 12 points. Derrick Rose made his Knicks debut and had 14 points in 20 minutes.
