Florida Panthers hockey executive Roberto Luongo has been named assistant general manager for Hockey Canada. They will participate in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.
Luongo was with the Canadian national team for three Olympic games in 2006, 2010 and 2014. He won two goal medals in 2010 and 2014. He is most known for being the starting goalie for Canada when they defeated the United States in overtime in the 2010 Winter Olympics gold-medal game at Vancouver.
He did have two stints as a player with the Florida Panthers. Luongo is the club all-time leader in most goalie categories.
