Heat Rip Wizards

Although there was an 18-game difference between both teams in the Southeast Division prior to this game, the Miami Heat took care of business as they routed the Washington Wizards 99-71 at American Airlines Arena on Sunday night. The Heat, now 16-3 at home this season, will play their next six games on the road and return home on January 23 against Toronto.
Miami(23-9) collected 13 of the first 16 points after four minutes into the game as they went a perfect six-for-six shooting from the field. The Heat were ahead 27-19 after one quarter. They held more than a four-point lead throughout the second quarter and led 52-44 at halftime.
Washington(4-28), who extended their losing streak to five games, were unable to cut the margin as they fell behind 69-60 after third quarters. The Wizards got seven straight points during the fourth quarter and were behind by seven points at 78-71 with 7:07 left. They would not score again for the rest of game as Miami scored 21 consecutive points in the final seven minutes.
