University of Florida quarterback Jacoby Brissett will transfer from the school after two seasons with the team. He will have to sit out one season and be eligible to play a regular season game for any FBS school as of August 2014. Florida head coach Will Muschamp will need to approve Brissett's future college destination.
Brissett was a true sophomore with the Gators and was beaten this season for the first-string quarterback spot by Jeff Driskel. He played 13 games with the team and was the starting quarterback for four games in his college career. He took the opening snap in the first game of the 2012 season and filled in for Driskel as the starter for one game because he had a sprained ankle.
He joins former William T. Dwyer high school teammates wide receiver Robert Clark and tight end Gerald Christian who left the Gators in October 2011. Both played for the University of Louisville this past season and finished up several days ago with a victory at the Sugar Bowl. All of them along with Florida State tight end Nick O'Leary helped Dwyer win the 2009 FHSAA Class 4A state championship under coach Jack Daniels.
