Longtime University of Miami Hurricanes baseball coach Ron Fraser passed away on Sunday at the age of 82. Fraser, known as the wizard of college baseball, led the Hurricanes to two national titles in 1982 and 1985. By the time he left his post after the 1992 season, he had accumulated 1,271 wins in his 30 years with the school.
The University of Miami appeared in 12 College World Series in Omaha from 1973 until 1992. Jim Morris replaced Fraser as the new Hurricanes coach prior to the 1994 season when he left Georgia Tech. Both Fraser and Morris have combined and managed the team to postseason appearances for 39 consecutive years, which stands as an NCAA record.
