Lincoln Financial Media had a great celebration as they had the two of the top three sports talk format stations in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region during December and the holiday season. It was the first time that their simulcast of 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM and 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM both appeared separately from each other.
790 The Ticket was the top station in the area for the first time since August 2012. They went from a 0.7 in early December, which they were tied with WQAM, to a 0.8 in the holiday period. The station continued to get an push of being the flagship station of the Miami Heat and their best start in franchise history this season.
104.3 The Ticket entered the ratings with a 0.5 and tied for second place. They had the same ratings during the November and December logs. The station has simulcasted Hochman and Zaslow morning show along with the Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz. They have also played both shows on a tape-delayed basis for middays, overnights and on weekends. Brian "The Beast" London has filled in on the late night shift because they were still unable to simulcast Miami Heat broadcasts.
Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM dropped down for the third consecutive ratings period and has lost half of their audience since October 2012. They went from tied for first place at a 0.7 in December to a 0.5 in the holiday season and tied for second place. As the flagship station for University of Miami football broadcasts, they have been hurt with no hype to an upcoming bowl game for the team due to their self-imposed ban for the second straight year.
940 WINZ-AM The Sports Animal fell slightly from a 0.5 to a 0.4 in the holiday season. With the end of the Miami Dolphins season, there would be an end to several shows on that station. The Jim Rome Show on middays was gone at the end of the year to be replaced by Jay Mohr while Mike and Mike In the Morning from ESPN Radio left to be replaced by Jeff DeForrest and Steve Goldstein.
