Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM has signed a multi-year extension to continue as the flagship station of the University of Miami Hurricanes Radio Network. The station will continue to broadcast Hurricanes football and men's basketball games while baseball games will no longer be broadcast following the 2017 season. WQAM has broadcast Miami Hurricanes sports since August 1999.
Joe Zagacki will remain as the radio voice of the University of Miami. He switched from game analyst to play-by-play announcer in early 2002 when Marc Vandermeer left to become the radio play-by-play announcer of the Houston Texans. Zagacki will mark his 29th year broadcasting in some capacity on the Miami Hurricanes Radio Network this fall.
