The Miami Marlins signed several players with some major league experience to minor league contracts. All of them will be invited to spring training camp held in Jupiter.
The Marlins signed first baseman Pedro Alvarez. He played the last three seasons with the Baltimore Orioles and first made the majors as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Middle infielder Dixon Machado also signed with the Fish. He spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Tigers. They signed Devan Marrero who was an infielder last year with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Marlins catcher Bryan Holaday resigned and was given a minor league deal. The Fish also signed outfielder Gabriel Guerrero, who is the nephew of Baseball Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero. He played 14 games with the Cincinnati Reds in 2018.
