Mariners Stop Marlins Winning Streak

The Seattle Mariners avoided a three-game series sweep with a 7-3 victory over the Miami Marlins on Sunday at loanDepot park. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for Miami. It was their longest winning streak for the Marlins since April 2016. Mariners starting pitcher and Central Florida native Logan Gilbert improved to a 4-0 record in 2022.
In the second inning, Seattle(12-10) got up in front 1-0. J.P. Crawford powered a solo homer to right field on the 3-1 count for his fourth home run of the season.
It became 2-1 for the Mariners during the fourth inning. Abraham Toro knocked in Jesse Winker with a base hit into left field.
Seattle made it a five-run cushion in the top of the sixth. Julio Rodriguez hammered his first career home run on a 2-1 pitch to left-center field with Crawford and Toro aboard.
Miami(12-9) broke the shutout in the bottom of the sixth. Brian Anderson lifted a solo home run to center field on a 0-1 pitch for his first homer this season.
The Marlins closed it to 5-2 in the seventh inning. Jorge Soler had an infield single for Jon Berti to score.
The Mariners made it 7-2 in the top of the ninth. Winker sliced a single into left-center field for Adam Frazier and Ty France to reach home.
The Fish then trailed 7-3 in the bottom of the ninth. Soler crushed a solo home run to left-center field on a full count for his third homer of the season.
