Padres Escape Marlins

The San Diego Padres came back in the ninth inning to win 3-2 over the Miami Marlins on Sunday at Petco Park. The Marlins have lost seven of their last eight contests. The Marlins, who split their four-game series with the Padres, next stop on their seven-game road trip is in Arizona.
Miami(13-15) scored first in the top of the fourth to go up 1-0. Garrett Cooper hit a sacrifice fly into right field for Jesus Aguilar to score.
The Marlins expanded it their lead over San Diego(19-10) to 2-0 during the sixth inning. Jazz Chisholm Jr. smacked a solo home run to center field on a 0-1 pitch for his fifth homer of the season.
San Diego(19-10) compiled three runs in the bottom of the ninth with two outs to pull off a comeback. Former Marlins catcher Jorge Alfaro burned his ex teammates as he crushed a three-run homer to center field on a first pitch with Trent Grisham and C.J. Abrams aboard. Alfaro, who was sent by Miami to the Padres back on December 1, chalked up his second home run this season.
