Padres Walk By Marlins

The Miami Marlins continued their four-game series in San Diego and were defeated by the Padres 3-2 at Petco Park on Friday night. The Marlins have lost six consecutive contests following a seven-game winning streak.
The Fish set a franchise record as it was the fifth straight game that Miami was outscored by just one run. The Marlins have not won a game in the month of May.
San Diego(18-9) got out to a 1-0 lead during the opening inning. American Heritage Plantation grad Eric Hosmer doubled into right field for Manny Machado to score.
In the bottom of the fifth, it became a 3-0 game for the Padres. Matt Beaty drove in Trent Grisham on a double to right. Four batters later, Machado lined a base hit to left field which brought in Beaty.
Miami(12-14) answered back in the top of the sixth with two runs and trailed 3-2. Jazz Chisholm Jr. led the frame off with a single into left field. Jesus Aguilar followed and smashed a two-run homer to left field on a 1-0 pitch with Chisholm aboard. It was the third home run of the 2022 campaign for Aguilar.
