Mike Vernon Elected To Hockey Hall Of Fame

Former Florida Panthers goalie Mike Vernon has been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place on November 13 in Toronto.
Vernon played one season with the Florida Panthers in 1999-2000.  He was acquired during the campaign from the San Jose Sharks for Radek Dvorak.
He had an 18-13-2 record with a 2.54 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage in 34 games that season. It turned out to be his best save percentage in his 19-season NHL career. Vernon helped the Panthers reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs that year. Florida would not get to the postseason again for another 12 years, which is an NHL all-time record for team futility.
He had stints with the Calgary Flames and the Detroit Red Wings prior to his arrival in Florida. He captured a Stanley Cup championship with Calgary in 1989 and with Detroit in 1997.
