In Class 7A, Columbus had their two-time state championship reign ended by Venice 33-27. The Indians will be involved in the only state title that will not have a local participant as they next take on Lake Mary.
Class 6A got West Boca Raton past Southridge 14-11. The Bulls will participate in their first state title game in their 20-year school history versus Osceola.
St. Thomas Aquinas found a way on the road to get by Manatee 16-13 in Class 5A. The Raiders will attempt to pick up an unprecedented six consecutive FHSAA football state championship along with a state-record 16th overall title. STA will take on their longtime rival Lakeland.
In Class 4A, American Heritage outdueled St. Augustine 38-28. The Patriots will be challenged by Jones in the championship round.
Class 3A resulted in Miami Northwestern shutting out Eau Gallie 40-0. The Bulls will have the homefield advantage of playing the state title game in their own county versus Raines.
In Class 2A, Booker T. Washington was stopped by Gadsden County 47-27. The championship game will have two high schools from outside of South Florida with Cocoa and Gadsden County.
Class 1A in Region 3 saw Cardinal Newman fall short and lose to Clearwater Central Catholic 22-21 in overtime. Region 4 had Chaminade-Madonna clobber Trinity Christian Academy 35-6. The Lions will face Clearwater Central Catholic for the three straight year in a state title game.
