The Miami Northwestern Bulls returned to the FHSAA Football Finals with a 40-0 victory over the Eau Gallie Commanders in a Class 3A state semifinal at Melbourne. The Bulls will stay in Dade County and play in the state championship contest against Raines next Saturday night.
Miami Northwestern(11-2) rolled out to a 7-0 lead with under one minute left in the opening quarter. Running back J'vari Flowers snuck in on a one-yard touchdown run.
It became 13-0 for The West at the nine-minute mark of the second quarter. Quarterback Leon Strawder tossed a five-yard pass to wide receiver Calvin Russell Jr.
The Bulls expanded it to 20-0 with over two minutes to go in the second. Strawder threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Nicholas Lennear.
Eau Gallie(12-2) punted the ball away on their next possession. Miami Northwestern made it a 27-point gap in the final minute of the first half. Wide receiver Daruis Johnson sprinted down the field on a 35-yard touchdown run. The Bulls added six more points during the third quarter and seven more points in the fourth.
