The Miami Heat wrapped up the Eastern Conference Semifinal as they edged the Chicago Bulls 94-91 in game 5 on Wednesday night at American Airlines Arena. The Heat won the best-of-seven series four games to one and will face either the Indiana Pacers or the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Miami took command early as they began the first quarter on an 18-2 run and held a 30-21 lead after one quarter. Chicago went on a 17-6 rally at the beginning of the second quarter to take their first lead of the game 38-36 with 4:46 left in the first half. The Bulls were ahead 53-47 at halftime.
Chicago extended their margin to double digits and led 77-69 at the end of the third quarter. The Heat began the fourth quarter on a 13-4 spurt and retook the lead 82-81 with 6:48 remaining. They moved the lead up to seven points 93-86 with 3:01 to go.
The Heat were led by LeBron James who had a team-high in four categories with 23 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in 44 minutes played. Dwyane Wade added 18 points and six assists in 37 minutes while Chris Bosh compiled 12 points and seven rebounds in 32 minutes. Udonis Haslem poured in 10 points in the victory.
Carlos Boozer nailed a double-double for the Bulls with game-high 26 points and 14 rebounds in 42 minutes. Nate Robinson had 21 points and six assists in 47 minutes. Jimmy Butler played all 48 minutes of the game for Chicago and knocked down 19 points.
