The Miami Heat regained control in the Eastern Conference Finals in game 3 with a 114-96 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Heat, who now lead the series two games to one, became the first team in NBA history to win five consecutive road games by double digits.
All five starters for Miami were able to score in double figures. Dwyane Wade put up 18 points and eight assists in 35 minutes for the Heat and LeBron James added 22 points in 41 minutes. Udonis Haslem contributed 17 points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes while Chris Bosh knocked down 15 points in 24 minutes. Mario Chalmers dropped in 14 points.
Several Pacers landed double-doubles as David West had 21 points and 10 rebounds in 36 minutes and Roy Hibbert got 20 points and 17 rebounds in 37 minutes. George Hill poured in 19 points and Paul George scored 13 points with eight assists.
Neither team led by more than four points in the opening quarter as Miami was up 34-30 after one quarter. The Heat began the second quarter on a 8-2 edge, pulled ahead by double digits and led 70-56 at halftime.
The Pacers pulled within seven points during the third quarter, but were still behind 91-76 after the period. The gap between both teams increased to 20 points early in the fourth quarter as the Heat moved forward.
